City of Oxford Housing Repair Assistance
The City of Oxford has been awarded $66,000 by the NC Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) under the 2023 Cycle of the Urgent Repair Program to assist residents within the City of Oxford’s City limits.  Under the program guidelines, a minimum of 50% of households assisted must have incomes which are less than 30% of the median income for the household size, and no household with an income exceeding 50% of the area median income will be eligible.
This program provides funds to assist very low- and low-income households with special needs in addressing housing conditions which pose imminent threats to their life and/or safety or to provide accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent displacement of the homeowners.  A total of 5 households are projected to be assisted or until the funds run out.
Only repairs that address imminent threats to the life and/or safety of occupants of the dwelling unit or accessibility modifications will be performed under the City of Oxford’s URP.    Please understand that all deficiencies in a home will likely not be able to be repaired with the available funds.  Examples of work typically done include roof or HVAC repair, or accessibility features like ramps or bathroom modifications.
The City of Oxford will aid homeowners, whose homes are selected for repair/modifications in the form of deferred / forgiven loan, $3,000 per year, until the principal balance is reduced to zero.  The maximum life-time limit according to the guidelines of URP23 is $12,000.
Applications are available starting September 1, 2023, and must be submitted by September 23, 2023 to the City of Oxford Planning Department.  Clients will be selected by October 24, 2023.
The application and program information are available on the City of Oxford’s website at or by calling 919-603-1116.
The funds provided by the NCHFA for the Urgent Repair Program come from the North Carolina Housing Trust fund.
