The Executive Department includes the City Manager, City Clerk, Communications Specialist, and Administrative Assistant.
The City Manager is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and is the Chief Administrator and Budget Officer for the City. He is responsible for implementing the policy set by the Board of Commissioners and is charged with managing and directing all daily operational activities of the City through direct communication with department heads. The City Manager is responsible for presenting annually a balanced budget to the Board for adoption by June 30th.
The City Clerk is appointed by the Board of Commissioners as per N.C.G.S. 160A-71. The City Clerk provides staff support to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners and is responsible for meeting notices, agenda preparation, and proceeding of City Board meetings. The City Clerk is the custodian for all permanent records including minutes, resolutions, contracts, agreements, deeds and easements, and various other documents. The City Clerk is also charged with updating the City's Code of Ordinances and serves as a coordinator for public information.
The Communications Specialist supports the City of Oxford through public relations through both internal and external mediums. The Communications Specialist is responsible for the City's social media platforms, website maintenance, public information dissemination, and assists with citizen requests and inquiries.
The Administrative Assistant supports the Mayor, the Board of Commissioners, and all Departments in City Hall. This position also disseminates information and assists, citizens, with requests and inquiries.
