Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement Services exists to listen and respond to our citizen's concerns regarding image, appearance, health, safety, and welfare of the City and its environs. Through a variety of means Code Enforcement judiciously pursue the abatement of nuisances that aggrieve the community through the fair and equitable application of the City’s minimum housing, public nuisance, junk/nuisance vehicles, and other codes. Code Enforcement administers the Codes and Ordinances adopted by the Board of Commissioners to provide for the health, safety, welfare, and comfort of the citizens of the City. Through the fair and equitable application of enforcement actions, we are able to assist citizens in improving the environment in their neighborhoods.

The Code Enforcement Officer works closely with the Police and Fire Departments, Social Services, the Health Department and other agencies to meet the mutual goals of providing for the betterment of the citizens of the community. By improving the environment, in conjunction with the Police Department reducing criminal elements, the citizens can feel safer, take pride in their homes and community again, and take back control of their neighborhoods.
