Yard of the Month
The Oxford Yard of the Month will be awarded the second Tuesday of each month during the Regular City Board Meeting, from May through October. The Oxford Yard of the Month recipient will be recognized with a certificate during the monthly Board meeting, have an “Oxford Yard of the Month” sign placed in their yard for one month following the recognition, and have a photo of their yard published in the paper and on the City’s web site.
The 2019 Yard of the Month winners will receive a 12-month membership in the Granville Gardeners. They will be eligible for the grand prize drawings of $75 in Oxford Downtown Dollars, a $30 Southern States gift certificate, a $25 Steel Magnolias gift certificate, $25 in Oxford Downtown Dollars, $15 in Oxford Downtown Dollars, and $15 in Oxford Downtown Dollars. The winners will be announced at the October Board meeting.
Beginning April 4, nominations can be made using the ballot box located in the Water Department at City Hall (300 Williamsboro Street) or by emailing the address and a picture to firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations can be made by anyone, including self-nomination and must be submitted before the 20th of each month in order to be considered the following month. To be eligible for Oxford Yard of the Month, property must be within the City limits, resident must be willing to have photos taken and published online and in the paper, and the resident must not have received a Yard of the Month award during the previous one-year period.
