Recycle Right NC Campaign

The Recycle Right NC Campaign was designed to encourage North Carolina residents to recycle right by providing information on which items are recyclable and which items go in the trash bin.

The City of Oxford is excited to join this campaign and encourages all Oxford residents to join in! Please check out the information below on how to recycle right.

Are you still crushing your aluminum cans or plastic water bottles?
Crush NO More...
Recycling machinery recognizes the items by shape and size..

How CLEAN does it need to be???
CLEAN enough to not contaminate other recyclables or to be off-putting people working in the recycling industry.
Empty  containers of contents, give it a quick rinse and toss into the recycling bin.

When it comes to recycling the SIZE of the items REALLY  matter.
If it's too tiny (shredded paper, sweetener packets, Post-it notes)  it usually sticks to the equipment or other items, or doesn't get recognized at all.

If it's TOO BIG (ladders, plastic lawn furniture, etc) it can harm equipment and people working in the industry.
