PLANNING & ZONING
It is the mission of the City of
Oxford's Planning Department to help to ensure the health, safety, and general
welfare of the public and to help ensure the protection of the environment
relating to zoning by providing fair, consistent, and timely enforcement of
local codes and ordinances through service, education, and coordination with
other agencies.
The Planning Staff is available to answer questions concerning: zoning, setback
requirements, subdivision regulations, rezoning matters, site plan review,
annexation, property uses, variances, special use permits, special event
permits, minimum housing, weeded lots and abandoned/junk vehicles.
OXFORD PLANNING
BOARD
The Planning Board
functions as an advisory board to the Mayor and Oxford Board of
Commissioners concerning the use and amendment of ordinances, rezoning
requests, and review of subdivision plats. The Planning Board
meets every 4th Monday of the month at 5:30 PM in the Commissioner's
Board Room located on the 3rd Floor of City Hall.
The fee for a rezoning request
is $100.00. Subdivision plats for 1-5 lots are $100.00 and over 5
lots at $250.00. PUD Applications are $300.00.

OXFORD ZONING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The Zoning Board of
Adjustment functions as a quasi judicial board. The Board of
Adjustment reviews special use applications, variance applications and
hear appeals to the zoning administrator's decisions. The Board of
Adjustment meets the first Monday of the month at 7:30 PM in the
Commissioner's Board Room located on the 3rd Floor of City Hall.
All applications are due to the Planning Department 25 days prior to the
meeting date. There is a $75.00 filing fee for each application.

 Cheryl Hart, Planning Director for the
City of Oxford is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a BA in
Public Administration. She the Planning Director since April of 1992.
The Planning and Zoning Office is
located at City Hall, 300 Williamsboro Street. Office hours are Monday
