Sworn officers are assigned a variety of functions and have opportunities for lateral transfer or potential promotion in a number of different areas:
  • Patrol Officer
  • Forensics (Crime Scene Investigator)
  • Criminal Investigator
  • Juvenile Office
  • K-9
  • Instructors
  • Bicycle Patrol
  • Community Resources and Training
Sworn Officer Requirements:  Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be a high school graduate or equivalent (further education is highly desirable), a U.S. citizen with no criminal arrests or convictions of serious charges, possess (or be able to obtain) a N.C. operators license and have a driving history with no significant traffic violations. All candidates will be undergo a formal interview board process, a rigorous background investigation, psychological evaluation, drug screen and physical exam prior to appointment.
