Other City Boards and Commissions

The City of Oxford Board of Commissioners believe the community is best served when there is a diverse representation of volunteer citizens on the City's Boards and Commissions. Many opportunities exist for citizens to become more involved with issues that affect our community. The Board solicits applications for Boards and Commissions every January and from time to time throughout the year. Applications will be accepted at any time and will be held until a vacancy occurs before consideration. To obtain a copy of the application please click on the link below or visit the office of the City Clerk at City Hall 300 Williamsboro Street, Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Boards and Commissions Appointment Application
Planning Board
The Planning Board makes recommendations to the City Board on subdivision and zoning matters within the City's zoning jurisdiction. This Board meets on the 4th Monday of each Month at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Board Room, 3rd Floor, City Hall.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Zoning Board of Adjustment enforces the City Of Oxford's Zoning Ordinance and can hear appeals, grant variances, and special use permits. This Board meets on the 1st Monday of each month as needed, at 7:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Board Room, 3rd Floor, City Hall.

Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)
The Historic Preservation Commission is a seven-member volunteer board appointed by the City. A majority of the members have demonstrated special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, archeology, or related subjects and all members are residents of the town of Oxford.

The Commission meets on the third Thursday of months January - October @ 6 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of City Hall and... at other times if needed.

Community Appearance Commission
The Community Appearance Commission studies visual problems and needs in the City and provides recommendations to the City Planning Director. Anyone interested in serving on this commission should have training or experience in a design field, such as architecture, landscape architecture, horticulture, city planning, or a related field. This Commission meets as needed in the Commissioners' Board Room, 3rd Floor, City Hall.

Oxford Parking Authority
The Parking Authority manages and administers the process of off-street parking in the Municipal Service District. This Authority meets as needed in the 1st Floor Training Room, City Hall.

Recreation Advisory Committee
The Recreational Advisory Committee along with the Parks and Recreation Director advises the City Manager on recreational programs and makes recommendations to the City Board on recreational policies, fees, and the recreational master plan. This Committee meets quarterly in the Offices of Parks and Recreation, Public Works Building.
