FIRE DEPARTMENT

The primary responsibilities of the Oxford Fire Department include:  fire suppression; respond and assist with vehicular accidents and emergency situations; fire prevention through educational efforts; and perform inspections.  The Oxford Fire Department stands ready to respond to a fire and/or emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Oxford Fire Department located at 112 E. McClanahan Street is staffed with a 10 man crew plus Chief Lanny Dillehay.  Chief Lanny Dillehay has been Chief for 7 years.  He was foreman with the Volunteer Fire Company for 18 years and moreover he has been associated with the department for 32 years.  He is a graduate of Atlantic Christian College, now known as Barton College.

The Department also is fortunate to have a 38 man Volunteer Fire Company.  The Oxford Volunteer Company celebrated its 100th Anniversary in August 2005.  The Fire Department is well equipped with state of the art equipment for each fireman.  The Fire Department has 3 Class A pumpers; 1 heavy duty rescue truck and a 95 ft aerial platform to help assist the firemen in an emergency situation.

The goal of the Oxford Fire Department is to continue to improve safety and protection of each fire fighter and our citizens.
