Message from the Fire Chief

David_Cottrell_III_WebAs Fire Chief, I am proud to say that our citizens are protected by a fire department of well-trained staffing, dedicated volunteers, and state-of-the-art fire apparatus. Pre-incident planning and life safety code enforcement are just two of the tools used to address the risks that have been identified within our community. The Oxford Fire Department is fortunate to have kept up with the changes of evolving fire service and a growing community. The department has and will continue to be a fine example of service delivery excellence in all that we provide.

The Oxford Fire Department not only responds to all fires within our service district, but also provides the training, staffing, and response needs for many other types of emergencies such as vehicle rescue, confined space rescue, and machinery rescue. The department offers programs in public education and safety training to the school system, hospitals, senior groups, assisted living centers, and our local industry. Our fire prevention bureau is also committed to maintaining a safe and code-compliant community and offers services such as fire plan review, annual fire safety inspections, and child passenger safety seat installations.

The members of the Oxford Fire Department have and always will be committed to the highest level of service to all the citizens of our community.

David Cottrell
Fire Chief, City of Oxford
