The Finance Department provides financial customer service to utility customers, vendors, and employees. They manage the financial affairs of the City, which encompasses investing City funds; maintaining accounting and financial records; billing and collecting all city monies, including water and sewer utility accounts; and preparing the Annual Budget and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Based on recent NC legislation, as of July 1, 2015, our Finance Department only issues Privilege Licenses for the sale of Beer/Wine (on or off-premise) and for Taxicabs.  Those fees have not changed.  Information pertaining to Privilege Licenses can be found on our Permits, Applications, Forms, and Fee Schedule Page.  The fee schedule will be updated, reflecting the legislative changes soon.

Our fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30th.  As mandated by State law, municipalities must pass a balanced budget by June 30th of each year. You can review the City's current and past budgets or our Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports on our Departmental Reports page.
